Automatic submerged arc welding - Arc welding wire (wire electrode) submerged arc with mechanized operations of the wire and move the arc along the seam line.
Standard notation
SAW - Submerged Arc Welding - submerged arc welding
The technology of automatic welding
Submerged arc welding can be performed with machine guns and semi-automatic, but the latter are rarely used.

Submerged arc welding process |
The wire is fed into the welding zone through the feed rollers. Supply current to the wire by a sliding contact. A dense layer of flux, spill out of the bunker during the movement of the welding machine, provides effective protection for molten metal weld pool from the interaction with the air. The arc burns in a gas bubble that forms vapors and gases flux and molten metal. As a result of the interaction of metallurgical slag and molten metal solidification of metal and the weld pool is formed by the seam with the desired chemical composition and mechanical properties. On the surface of the joint is easily detachable slag crust of solidified flux. Not going into Flux spent flyusoapparat for further use in welding.
