Depending on the welding technology are the following types of welding equipment:

• for manual arc welding - welding transformers, units (generators), transformers, rectifiers, inverters;
• for semi-automatic welding - welding machines compact design, with separate wire feeder;
• for automatic welding - machines, welding tractors;
• non-consumable electrode welding;
• Arc welding of a generic type;
• for gas welding;

• for welding.

The structure of the designation of welding equipment, introduced in the USSR
Designate a single entity welding equipment, produced by the enterprise under the Ministry of Electrotechnical Industry of the USSR, has been preserved in the ground and to the present time. However, some manufacturers do not adhere to this system, so the full unity in the marking of welding equipment there.

According to this structure, welding equipment designated as follows.

Designate a single entity of welding equipment

1. Type of product: A - automatic or machine, in - rectifier, L - semi-automatic, T - Transformer, I - Installation.
2. The method of welding according to the heat source: D - arc welding, P - plasma welding.
3. The method of welding by the form of protection from the air: D - in protective gases, F - submerged, I - Universal, C - special welding methods. This label is not used in the brand of equipment for manual arc welding with coated electrodes.
4. Additional explanation: B - petrol unit, D - diesel unit, and - for pulse welding, M - multioperator food; E - E control current, M (for manual arc welding) - mechanical regulation of current.
5. Current in the hundreds of amps (one or two digits).
6. Serial number of the model development of welding equipment (two digits).
7. Climatic version of the model: Y - moderate climate, Chl - a cold climate, T - a tropical climate.
8. Category premises where the equipment may be used: 1 - open air, 2 - tents, trailers, cars, three - rooms with natural ventilation; 4 - room with forced ventilation and heating; 5 - rooms with high humidity.

Examples of designation of welding equipment:

• TDM-401 - Transformer for manual arc welding with mechanical control current to 400A;
• VD-306 - Rectifier for manual arc welding current is 300A;
• VDGM-1601 - rectifier for arc welding in shielding gases on the current multioperator 1600;
• CDP-302 - semi-automatic arc welding in shielding gases at 300A;
• ADP-1002 - Automatic for the submerged arc welding on the 1000A;
• ADD-301 - unit for manual arc welding, operating on diesel fuel at the current 300 A;
• UDG-301 - Installation of arc welding in shielding gases on the 300A.
