The German company Merkle began manufacturing semi-automatic welding MobiMIG 280 K. Small size and support for various welding conditions make them excellent tools for installation and service work.

Modes of the device:
  • MIG / MAG (semi-automatic welding);
  • TIG DC (tungsten arc welding with direct current);
  • MMA (manual welding stick electrodes);
  • welding flux cored wire;
  • MIG-brazing;
  • ColdMIG (semi-automatic welding or brazing with low heat dissipation).
Technology ColdMIG with low impact on the 20-30% of heat is used for welding sheet metal thickness of 0,6-3 mm sheet with a large gap between the two, dissimilar metals, metal products, coated, as well as for MIG-brazing. When welding wire can be used AlMg, AlSi, CrNi, and soldering - wire CuAl, CuSi.

The new model operates from 1x230 or 3x400 in V. When the input voltage of the apparatus required is automatically selected (function BiPowerPLUS).

Concern ESAB acquired from ATS ( Applied Thermal Sciences Inc, USA), the main process controller MPC (Master Process Controller), intended for use in hybrid laser-arc welding. MPC - a patented system that provides real-time control of laser equipment for arc welding in shielding gases (GMAW, MIG / MAG) welding system and moving heads. ESAB Cooperation and ATS in the development of this adaptive control system lasted for over six years.

Hybrid laser-arc welding combines the advantages of both methods. The laser beam provides deep penetration and a relatively low heat input and arc process in inert gas (GMAW) - excellent properties of welded joints and the possibility of increasing the gap between the workpieces. Hybrid welding can be performed at very high speed, with the joints obtained by narrow and deep. Often a single pass using a laser-arc welding is achieved the same results as in several passes with conventional fusion welding.

With the acquisition of MPC concern ESAB was able to use their equipment Hybrio for laser-arc welding of thicker materials and wider gaps between products. The company will continue to develop this area further.
